New Home Build and Winter?

People think that a new home cannot be built during winter months due to the cold temperatures, snow, and frozen ground. But this is simply not true. With today’s new products, building methods and technology, winter months in some cases can be better for a new home build.

Here are a few key benefits to building a new home during winter months:

  • Building your home in the winter means that the necessary approvals and building permits with be approved faster because fewer people are applying for them.
  • One concern some may have is being able to excavate and pour a strong concrete foundation for the home. This process may take a bit longer for the foundation to fully cure; pouring a foundation in cold weather can result in an even stronger foundation than it normally would. The additives used make this concrete solid and no different from the concrete poured in the warmer months.
  • It may be cold, but if there happens to be a snow storm during your home construction, it is much easier to tarp off a home to keep snow out rather than protect a construction site during a rain storm in the spring or summer.
